The Concert

It's been a while that no new article was posted in TAP, and I feel sorry for that. Even though I'm questioning the fate of blogger with the phenomenal growth of Facebook users that has made other social network sites such as Friendster in limbo, still I'm committed in maintaining the blog. It seems that previous active bloggers are now spending more time in Facebook rather than doing blogwalking and posting new articles in their blogs. Blogger needs a fundamental surgery in its engines and interfaces to survive from the deadly attack of Facebook.

Tikungan Iblis

Tikungan Iblis (Devil Twist) was performed elegantly and inspiringly by Teater Dinasti in a fully packed theater hall of Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on the evening of December 30, 2008. A couple of minutes earlier, Rangga and I visited a bookstore at the corner of the GBB building and for the first time in my life I bought Horison, a once respected literary magazine. I might not be the only one.

Wishing You Are Happy

Wishing you are happy, that was the title of Teater Aristokrat's performance that I attended at Graha Bhakti Budaya - Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini Raya, Jakarta, in the evening of December 18, 2008. Yes, the original title was in English, not in Indonesian. I'm not so sure whether it's grammatically correct or is a common expression, but artists can use words in whatever compositions they wish, can't they?

Perempuan di Titik Nol

Last night was my first visit to Komunitas Salihara and I relied to somebody else to get into the place as Pejaten is not my roaming area, yet. Komunitas Salihara was built on a land of 3,237 square meters, located at Jalan Salihara 16, Pasar Minggu, Jakarta Selatan. It neatly houses Teater Salihara, Galeri Salihara, a nice canteen, office and guest house for artists. The community was founded by Goenawan Mohamad and managed by Utan Kayu Foundation.

Kereta Laju LK - LKers

Here's another Leo Kristi's legendary song from "Seabad Kebangkitan Indonesia" concert, titled Kereta Laju. The song is full of spirit and vigor, and at the age of 59, Leo Kristi’s performance was just as dynamic and lively as always. For LKers amateur musicians, the concert was the first true experience in a big real stage with a real audience.

Nyanyian Musim LK-LKers

This video clip of "Nyanyian Musim" has just been uploaded by Albert Go honoring my request. It was one of the last songs performed by Leo Kristi and LKers in "Seabad Kebangkitan Indonesia" concert, at Taman Ismail Marzuki, May 20, 2008. The successful concert that cost a little over Rp.60 million was fully funded by LKers community members and lovers of Leo Kristis's works.

KunoKini Performance at BBJ

It was Thursday evening, June 19, 2008, when I finally succeeded in pushing myself to go to Bentara Budaya Jakarta (BBJ) at Jl Palmerah Selatan 17, fulfilling an sms invitation from mas Efix Mulyadi. It was an invitation to see a performance of KunoKini, an ethnic percussion music group. It’s a strange name of a group that I have never heard before.

Closing Ceremony of FTJ 2007

We arrived at Teater Studio Taman Ismail Marzuki at around 8 p.m., in the wet New Year's Eve to see the closing ceremony of Festival Teater Jakarta 2007, and to witness the announcement of the winners of the annual festival held by Dewan Kesenian Jakarta. We were 30 minutes late, and hence we missed some of the good parts of the ceremony. Traffic along the way was still quite okay actually despite the heavy rain.

After watching Anekdot Idiot, we enjoyed es beras kencur at a food stall inside TIM compound, ordered tahu pong gimbal, also tempe mendoan. But the tempe were not mendoan (half-fried tempe) at all, they were too crispy. Mendoan Sroto Eling-eling at Lapangan Roos Raya, Tebet, is still probably the best tempe mendoan in Jakarta.

A visit to Wapres

Sorry, you might think that Wapres is the famous Wakil Presiden (the Vice President). It's not. I'm not that important, yet, to have the opportunity to visit the second most important person in the country. Wapres stands for Warung Apresiasi (thanks to mademoizell3 for the correction). A cozy place where every night people can enjoy good food at good price, while enjoying performances of new group bands that show off their skills.
