Konser Kebangsaan, the Photos

We arrived at Balai Sarbini at about 7.30 p.m., and took the back seats, at the press area, as this is the best spot after the VIP area to take photos. Dewi was right, that the concert would not start on time. It started at about 8.30 p.m.

The performers were, at the order of appearance, STIE Perbanas Choir, Djaduk Ferianto and Kua Etnika, Samuel, Edo Kondologit, Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja, Syaharani, Sherina, Butet Kartaredjasa and the long awaited Leo Kristi. The show ended at about 10.30 p.m. Let's enjoy the photos of some of the performances, selected from more than a hundred shots.

The auditorium was still spacious at about 8 p.m. A lot more seats were occupied by 8.30 pm. Having attended a couple of cultural performances, it was not bad at all.

Samuel, winner of AFI Junior contest, opened the show with his sweet voice singing "Tanah Airku", proceeded by STIE Perbanas Choir.

Edo Kondologit with a song titled "Untuk Kita Renungkan", composed and originally played by Ebiet G. Ade. With his colorful background, at one time he was a security guard at Caya Grill, Kemang, he's not only singing. He speaks from his heart.

Kita mesti telanjang dan benar-benar bersih
Suci lahir dan di dalam batin
Tengoklah ke dalam sebelum bicara
Singkirkan debu yang masih melekat
ho ho singkirkan debu yang masih melekat

Anug'rah dan bencana adalah kehendakNya
Kita mesti tabah menjalani
Hanya cambuk kecil agar kita sadar
adalah Dia di atas segalanya
ho ho adalah Dia di atas segalanya

Anak menjerit-jerit, asap panas membakar,
lahar dan badai menyapu bersih
Ini bukan hukuman, hanya satu isyarat
bahwa kita mesti banyak berbenah

Memang bila kita kaji lebih jauh
dalam kekalutan masih banyak tangan
yang tega berbuat nista ho ho

Tuhan pasti telah memperhitungkan
amal dan dosa yang kita perbuat
Ke manakah lagi kita 'kan sembunyi?
Hanya kepadaNya kita kembali
Tak ada yang bakal bisa menjawab
Mari hanya runduk sujud padaNya

Kita mesti berjuang memerangi diri
Bercermin dan banyaklah bercermin
Tuhan ada di sini, di dalam jiwa ini
Berusahalah agar Dia tersenyum
ho ho berusahalah agar Dia tersenyum

Whilst Syaharani beautifully sang Leo Kristi's song "Salam dari Desa", I missed the spirit of the song. This, however, gave me a little hope that Leo Kristi's song can one day be performed by singers like Syaharani, and thus can be appreciated by more people.

Salam dari Desa
Kalau ke kota esok pagi, sampaikan salam rinduku
Katakan padanya, padi-padi telah kembang
Ani-ani seluas padang, roda giling berputar-putar, siang malam
Tapi bukan kami punya

Kalau ke kota esok pagi, sampaikan salam rinduku
Katakan padanya, tebu-tebu telah kembang
Putih-putih seluas padang, roda lori berputar-putar siang malam
Tapi bukan kami punya

Anak-anak kini telah pandai, menyanyikan gema merdeka
Nyanyi-nyanyi bersama-sama, di tanah-tanah gunung

Anak-anak kini telah pandai, menyanyikan gema merdeka
Nyanyi-nyanyi bersama-sama, tapi bukan kami punya

Tanah pusaka, tanah yang kaya
Tumpah darahku
Di sana kuberdiri
Di sana kumengabdi
Dan mati
Dalam cinta yang suci

Kalau ke kota esok pagi, sampaikan salam rinduku
Katakan padanya, nasi tumbuk telah masak
Kan kutunggu sepanjang hari
Kita makan bersama-sama
Di gubuk sudut dari desa

Gubuk sudut dari desa
Gubuk sudut dari desa

Thanks to mas SetiyADI from LeoKristi@yahoogroups.com for all the lyrics.

Sherina performed two songs, one of them she's on a piano.

Edo Kondologit and Sherina with Indonesia Pusaka.

Butet Kartaredjasa "was called" by SBY, then by "Zainal Ma'arif", and finally he asked them to talk directly, saying that most of the problems could be resolved if the leaders could talk to each other.
Previously Butet played SBY's voice and gestures to open the concert with humorous critics and remarks.

Gus Pur comments, as usual, drew laughters from audience.

Pak Sigit Pramono shared his view on the philosophy behind Konser Kebangsaan and the role of Perbanas.

The maestro of Konser Rakyat Leo Kristi was awaiting Djaduk cs to finish the intro song taken from The 6 Million Dollar Man theme song.

Leo Kristi performed solo, singing a couple of songs, such as Gulagalugu Suara Nelayan and song that I have never heard before.

Berayun ayo laju perahu Pak Nelayan
Laju memecah ombak, perahu Pak Nelayan
Buih-buih memercik di kiri-kanan
Buih buih memercik di kiri-kanan
Perahu…

Lihat-lihat nelayan rentang jala pukat
Tarik-tariklah tambang, umpan sudah lekat
Ikannya melompat-lompat
Ikannya melompat-lompat
Riang ria…

Jauh di kaki langit
Terbentang layarmu
Kadang naik, kadang turun
Dimainkan oleh ombak
Badai laut biru

Gulagalugu suara nelayan
Berayun ayo laju. Berayun ayo laju…
Gulagalugu suara nelayan
Berayun ayo laju. Berayun ayo laju…

Laylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylay laylaylay…
Laylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylay laylaylay…
Hmmm…

Leo Kristi with Cecil, couldn't remember the song. I missed Naniel....

Leo Kristi with Mung, Cecil, Lili (violin), Erni (bass, not shown), and another girl on percussion. I also missed Ote and Komang.....

Lewat Kiara Condong

Lewat Kiara Condong kereta laju
Panorama di sana memaksaku tersenyum
Bocah-bocah tak berbaju
Berlari-lari sepanjang tepi

Di setiap detak roda yang kelima
Bergerombol bocah-bocah
Bermain gundu, kuda pelepah
Mengejar layang, lambaikan tangan
Ooh, bilakah mereka
lambaikan buku
dan pena di tangan

Lewat Kiara Condong kereta laju
Seorang gadis telanjang dada
Basah rambutnya berkeramas
Sempat kulihat tisik kainnya
Di balik dinding bambu
Reot dan tak beratap

(Ketika lewat Kiara Condong)
(Matahari tidur di balik gunung)
(Ketika lewat Kiara Condong)
(Tuan-tuan tidur di sejuk gunung)

Pak Pradjoto, I guess, was performing a poet reading with a red and white costume. It's a good performance. You should do it more frequently Pak!

Djaduk and Kua Etnika played well and deserve special appreciation for their great performance. Djaduk played a couple of instruments, at one time he used a piece of bamboo or can with a rope that produced unique sound.

Jabat tangan erat-erat, Saudaraku.
Merdeka!!!
