Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC, South Jakarta

The day was a little drizzle as I strolled past row of stalls to a branch of Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC which is located next to JCC, Senayan, Jakarta. The atmosphere of all the stalls were understandably very packed, as it lunch time, and there were several exhibitions taking place at JCC.

The place used by Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC is a square elongated shape, with walking space at the middle and the left and right side are row of two tables and long wooden benches. I chose to sit in a row to the left with back to the entrance of the restaurant.

The menu list was given by a waiter shortly after I sat comfortably. From the menu I chose black pepper chicken rice, and es lapangan tembak (literally shooting field ice), because stomach of an Indonesian must be filled with rice. As I wanted to take a photo the main menu of the warung, I also ordered meatballs without noodles. As a result the lunch title was eating a bit heavy meals.

Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC provides a number of other menus, in addition to plain meatballs and es lapangan tembak showed in photo above. Meatballs and es lapangan tembak were served earlier than the black pepper chicken rice, which apparently because it must be cooked fresh before serving.

The size of meatballs are rather large and solid. It was tasty on the tongue and there was a bite of some fibers that caused a little sound when chewed. While the es lapangan tembak tasted good enough contained grain of lychees, pieces of bread, watermelon, seaweed, ice cuts and others.

The atmosphere in the Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC can be seen on the above photo. My previous experience about its service in here was not so good, especially when there were many guests. Waiters sometimes ignoring customers who needed assistants, may be they were too busy with what were being done.

But this time the service was good enough as there were not many guests. All-fuss is indeed as a waiter, especially if facing guests who are starving and impatient. It is the task of management to create standard procedures to shorten the order chain, using Whatsapp for example, so that the waiter does not have to go back and forth from front to back end and can directly handle customers who ask for assistants.

At each table, the Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC provided baskets containing various types of crackers and rempeyek as additional food, or simply adding sounds in the munching mouth. While waiting for the order to come, I finished a piece of emping mlinjo, which still tasted original.

Other menus were bakso mix, grilled meatballs, vein meatballs and various other meatballs, special fried rice and various other types of rice, various chicken, meat, egg, tofu, and vegetable dishes, as well as fresh drinks.

Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan JCC finally served Black Pepper Chicken Rice that I ordered. Somehow I chose chicken, not meat. The chicken was tender, the pepper was very tasty, a bit too much for my tongue, so I was forced to eat some rice that was submerged in the pepper sauce.

The total amount of money I paid was Rp.63.800, with details of Black Pepper Rice Rp.22.000, Bakso Rp.17.000, emping Rp.3.000, krupuk Rp.3.000, es Lapangan Tembak Rp.13.000, and tax Rp.5.800. Not cheap, but also not too expensive. The current price certainly has changed much from when I was there.
