How to Increase Alexa Rank

I didn't put attention on Alexa rank and tips on how to improve Alexa rank, until a few weeks back, when I learned that TextLink Ads uses Alexa rank to market a blog space to potential advertisers.

Whilst TAP (The Aroengbinang Project) hasn't got any luck yet with the TextLink Ads, but TAP has been practicing a few tips that improved TAP Alexa rank in the past few weeks. As usual, it was Google that helped me to find information that I wanted about Alexa.

See Alexa's explanation below about the Alexa's traffic rankings:
Alexa's traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site's ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day.

Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1.

TAP Alexa rank was at 1,530,780 on June 6, 2007, as I manually wrote below TAP rank at the lower right side bar.

On June 20, TAP Alexa rank was at 1,145,056, a rather significant improvements of almost 400K points. TAP one week average rank is now at 549,856. It seems the method that TAP uses to increase Alexa rank works well so far. TAP target is to achieve Alexa rank below 300. We will see how long will it take for TAP to get there.

Here are some of the tips that TAP uses to improve Alexa rank:
  1. Download and install Alexa Toolbar.
This is important since Alexa only recognizes traffic from Alexa Toolbar users.

  2. Use Alexa redirects.
I changed shortcut in my browser to http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?aroengbinang.blogspot.com just in case the toolbar is not functioning.

Whenever I write comments or shouts on fellow bloggers' blog, I always use http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?aroengbinang.blogspot.com instead of the original address.

Always check when use copy-paste, since an SB can't accommodate the long words, and a website did not allow me to do so
  3. .

  4. Install Alexa Traffic Rank Button.
It does update TAP Alexa rank, even though the date doesn't change everyday.

  5. Write about Alexa Rank.
This is what I'm doing now, with the objective of getting additional traffic from those who are Googgling on how to increase Alexa rank.

The rest lies on how good and how fast we are in applying the blog platinum rule: develop killer content and increase traffic like crazy. Good luck.
